Board Meeting Minutes - 08/17/03

The Spindletop Unitarian Church board of directors met on 08/17/03 at 9:00am.

The following board members were present:

Jeff Pittman

Kathy Allen

Re. Tom Capo (ex-officio)

After calling the meeting to order, the previous minutes from 06/15/03 and 07/20/03 were read and approved by the board.

The following reports were next received by the board:

The minister's report was presented by Tom Capo. Events discussed include church workdays and preparation for the upcoming ordination/installation, plans for publicity and newspaper publication, newcomer classes, minister's group meetings, and the schedule for upcoming Sunday services.

The grounds commitee report was presented by Tom Harlan - status quo maintained.

The Social Concerns commitee report was presented by Ria Lhis - status quo maintained.

The ministerial relations committee report was presented by Jo Woody.

The treasurer's report was next presented by Karen Corwin. The assistant treasurer's report was also presented and reviewed by the board.

Having reviewed committee reports, the board next discussed the following old business:

The church copier maintenance contract was discussed - research to be done for obtaining new copier.

The board discussed issues related to Tom Capo's ordination ceremony.

The board also discussed issues related to the formation of new covenant groups and ministerial involvement.

No further old business being apparent, the board next discussed the following new business:

Plans for the upcoming S.T.O.P. Lamar campus group meeting were discussed.

The board approved the purchase of music C.D.'s containing songs from the Unitarian hymnal.

The board approved rental of the church building to P.A.S.T. for 4 bi-monthly sessions on Tuesday nights for a counseling class.

No further new business being apparent, the meeting was then adjourned.
