board meeting minutes - 04/18/04

The Spindletop Unitarian Church board of directors met on April 18, 2004 at 9:00am.

The following members were present:

Ria Lhis

Corky Cullins

Karen Corwin

Kathy Allen

Tom Harlan

Sharon Colbert

The meeting was called to order by Corky Cullins.

The chalice lighting was conducted by Rev. Tom Capo

Previous minutes for March were approved.

The minister's report was received by the board, to include the following:

1. An activity report for the previous month.
2. A schedule of upcoming activities.
3. A summary of upcoming plans & considerations.

The following committee reports were received by the board:

1. Kathy Allen offered a progress report on the nominating committee.
2. Tom Harlan offered a grounds committee report on the need for a new lawnmower and yard maintenance equipment.
3. Corky Cullins reported on the need for a new VCR. Motion was made and approved to purchase new VCR.
4. Ria Lhis offered a report on the social concerns committee.

No further committee reports presenting, the treasurer's report was next received by the board.

The board then turned to discussion of the proposed budget for next year. After considerable discussion, the board approved the budget for presentation during the upcoming congregational meeting.

No further business presenting, the meeting was adjourned.
