Spindletop Unitarian Church Board of Director's meeting minutes for 06/20/04.
The Spindletop Unitarian Church Board of Directors met on June 20, 2004 at 9:00am.
The following members were present:
Mike Hauk
Corky Cullins
Sharon Colbert
Karen Corwin
Enrique DelCampo
Tom Harlan
Tom Capo (ex-officio)
The meeting was called to order by Corky Culins.
The chalice lighting ceremony was conducted by Rev. Tom Capo.
Previous minutes from the month of May were read and approved.
The minister's report was received, to include the following:
- results of the board retreat
- vision/long range planning
- an activity report
- minister's calendar / upcoming events
The treasurer's report was next received by the board.
Committee reports were waived by the board.
The following new business was discussed:
PAST rental of the church for July 17th was approved.
The purchase offer for the church was discussed at considerable length. The board approved the expendeture for obtaining a property appraisal for the church property.
The by-law change necessary to conduct meetings by consensus rather than Robert's rules was discussed. The board decided to present the issue at a special congregational meeting Aug. 15th.
Committee re-organization and staffing was next discussed at considerable length. The following decisions were made:
a long-range planning committee should be established, with Sharon Colbert as chair.
a research committee should be established to study the feasibility of the proposed church property sale, with Karen Corwin as chair.
the grounds committee will continue to be chaired by Tom Harlan.
the membership committee will be chaired by AnnMarie Hicks.
the social concerns committee will continue to be chaired by Ria Lhis.
Corky Cullins to re-organize and consolidate committees as necessary, with list of committees and staffing needs to be presented at future date.
The board next approved a fundraiser for the Social concerns committee to be held Sept. 11th.
No further new business presenting, the meeting was adjourned.
