board meeting minutes - 08/15/04

The Spindletop Unitarian Church board of directors met August 15, 2004 at 9:00 am.

The following members were present:

Sharon Colbert

Cathy Allen

Tom Harlan

Bob Mark

Enrique DelCampo

Karen Corwin

Rev. Tom Capo (ex-officio)

The meeting was called to order by Corky Cullins.

The chalice lighting was conducted by Rev. Tom Capo.

Previous minutes were read and approved.

The minister's report was received by the board, to include an activity report and a list of items for review and consideration.

The treasurer's report was next received by the board.

The following committee reports were received:

1. J. Geiger reported on the progress of the Lamar University UU student group.

Corky Cullins reported on the progress of the church property appraisal. The low bidder for the appraisal was selected.

No further committee reports forthcoming, the board discussed committee rearrangement and staffing concerns.

The following old business was discussed:

PAST rental of the church for September 25th was approved.

Proposed by-law changes were reviewed and discussed prior to presentation at the upcoming special congregational meeting.

The following new business was discussed:

Bob Mark was appointed to fill the board vacancy created by Mike Hauk's recall to active duty in the Iraq war.

No further business presenting, the meeting was adjourned.
