board meeting minutes - 02/20/05

The Spindletop Unitarian Church board of directors met on February 20, 2005 at 9:00am.

The following members were present:

Sharon Colbert

Kathy Allen

Karen Corwin

Enrique DelCampo

Tom Harlan

Rev. Tom Capo (ex-officio)

The meeting was called to order by Sharon Colbert.

The chalice lighting ceremony was conducted by Rev. Tom Capo.

The minister's report was received and reviewed by the board.

The treasurer's report was received and reviewed by the board.

Rental of the church facilities by the PAST group on March 26th was approved by the board.

After discussion, it was agreed by the board that church rental rates would be doubled in the future, and that rental information should be included on the church website.

Plans for an upcoming church workday and moving the church sign closer to the road were discussed.

Discussion was had about tenative dates for Bob Hill's conducting a long-range planning seminar for the church.

Payment of the church's outstanding SWUUC dues was discussed. The board approved making up whatever shortfall occurs in fundraising for SWUUC dues out of the newsletter fund surplus.

The remainder of the meeting was devoted to identifying areas where the church might apply for assistance through chalice lighter grants. The following areas were identified and discussed:

Child care/religious education

Church administration

Campus outreach programs

Advertising

No further business presenting, the meeting was adjourned.
