annual congregational meeting minutes - 2004/2005

The Annual Congregational Meeting of Spindletop Unitarian Church for 2004 - 2005 was held on May 02, 2004.

The meeting was called to order by Bill Cook.

Minutes of the previous congregational meeting were read and approved.

The nominating committee report was next presented by Cathy Allen. Nominees for the Board of directors are as follows:

1. T. J. Geiger - 1yr. term
2. Enrique DelCampo - 3yr. term
3. Mike Hauk - 3yr. term

Nominees for the board were approved by vote of the congregation.

Officers selected for next year's congregational meeting are as follows:

1. Donna Birdwell - moderator
2. Pam Saur - vice moderator
3. Jack Lawrence - parlimentarian
4. Ria Lihs - vice parlimentarian

The minister's report was then presented By Rev. Tom Capo, to include the following:

1. an activity report
2. a report on membership/growth
3. a report on covenant groups
4. a report on religious education programs
5. a report on upcoming programs, plans and events.

The president's report was next presented by Corky Cullins, outlining progress for the previous year in membership growth, covenant groups, and religious education programs.

The treasurer's report was next presented by Karen Corwin.

The following committee reports were presented:

1. the Ministerial Relations Committee report was presented by Harold Skiles.
2. the Worship Committee report was presented by Corky Cullins.
3. the Grounds Committee report was presented by Tom Harlan.
4. the Membership Committee report was presented by Ann Marie Hicks.
5. the Audit Committee report was presented by Rachalsarah Cludius, finding the Church's financial accounting in good order.
6. reports concerning religious education programs, covenant groups and youth group activities was presented by Sarah Skiles.
7. the Social Concerns Committee report was presented by Ria Lihs.
8. a report on adult religious education was presented by John Smith.

The Assistant Treasurer's Report was then presented by Bill Cook.

The proposed budget for 2004 - 2005 was presented to the congregation for consideration.

After considerable discussion, motion was made by Glenn Putnam and properly seconded to ammend budget to deduct money from operating fund in order to cover expense of paying 1/2 of outstanding UUA and SWUUC dues for 2004 - 2005.

Budget approved as ammended by vote of the congregation.
