POEM: Free Fall
Free Fall
I had a dream
That I was dreaming,
And in the dream
A spook a-creeping.
"I'll take away
The hopes you're brewing.
Put them away,
Out of your viewing."
Its ill intent
The ghost had spoken.
And cast and vent
Its gloomy omen:
"You shall NOT
Have friends but I.
See you not
What cares have I ?"
"My love engulfs
In crystal sphere
All of your hopes,
The air you breathe."
"So willing come
Into my cloister.
Or else choose doom,
Meet your disaster !"
Stepped off the edge,
Plunged into the void.
An everlasting surge,
Free air in the fall !
Crashed or awakened, I don't know quite.
The pain very real, but the choice felt right !
