Groups and Organizations in Our Congregation

Welcome to the section of our website where you can read about our congregation's many groups that you can become a part of.

We have many groups that make the experience of Spindletop extend beyond our Sunday services.

Currently we have groups that are tailored to the following subjects/activities:

Meditation and Buddhism study (Buddhist Covenant Group)
Viewing and discussion of various varieties of movies (First Friday Flicks)
Celebrating life and sisterhood through story sharing, games, and handicraft projects. (Women's Group)
Working to help promote peace in our community (Southeast Texans Organized for Peace)
Spreading and celebrating Unitarian Universalism at the Lamar Campus (Unitarian Universalists of Lamar University)

What is a Covenant Group and Why Should I Join One?

A covenant group is a small monthly gathering that meets for the purpose of getting to know one another on a much deeper level than would occur during a regular service and helps develop richer spirituality. If there isn't one formed for a particular subject or activity that you enjoy, then we can help you create a new one.
